Egypt Tops the List as Nigeria Climbs to 31st Globally
According to the latest data published by Global Firepower (GFP), Nigeria ranked third in Africa and 31st in the world in the 2025 Global Military Strength Index.
The annual index evaluates the military capabilities of 145 countries based on over 60 critical factors, including manpower strength, weapons systems, defense budget, logistics, and geographical advantage.

According to the GFP report, Egypt retains its position as Africa’s strongest military, followed closely by Algeria, with Nigeria in third place and South Africa ranking fourth.
