📢 VDM, Schoolchildren Protest Outside Wike’s Residence Over Teachers’ Strike.

VeryDarkMan Holds Mock Class at FCT Minister’s Gate Amid Minimum Wage Controversy

Popular online activist and social media commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), led a dramatic protest in front of the residence of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja on Monday.

This protest comes in response to Wike’s recent announcement to withhold 10% of statutory allocations to area councils that have failed to implement the new minimum wage for primary school teachers, which has triggered a strike action across several schools in the capital.

🎒 Protest Turns Symbolic Classroom Scene

In a symbolic demonstration, VDM gathered a group of schoolchildren dressed in uniforms and held a makeshift lesson at the minister’s gate, calling attention to the impact of the ongoing teachers’ strike on Nigeria’s public education system.

He humorously taught the children the English alphabet, using political figures and terms:

  • “S for Suegbe, T for Tinubu, W for Wike,” he said, while the children repeated after him.

VDM declared that Wike’s gate would now serve as the pupils’ new classroom, highlighting the failure of the authorities to ensure learning continues amid the unresolved wage dispute.

âš  Background: Minimum Wage Standoff

  • The protest follows Wike’s controversial decision to suspend allocation to underperforming area councils, blaming their refusal to implement the newly approved minimum wage for primary school teachers.
  • The standoff has left many public schools shut, with teachers on strike over unpaid or delayed wages, while children remain out of the classroom.

VDM’s protest has since gone viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions from Nigerians — some praising his activism, others questioning the involvement of children in political protest.
