🇮🇷 Iran Launches Missile Strikes on US Base in Qatar After American Attacks on Nuclear Facilities.

Explosions Rock Doha as Regional Tensions Escalate

Iran has launched ballistic missile attacks on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, in direct retaliation for recent American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, marking a dangerous escalation in the ongoing Middle East conflict.

🎯 Iran Responds to US Bombing of Nuclear Facilities

Iran’s National Security Council confirmed it fired multiple missiles at the US base in Qatar, stating the attack was “in response to the US aggressive and insolent action” against Iran’s key nuclear facilities. The Iranian government claims the number of missiles used was “proportional” to the US bombs dropped on Sunday.

On Sunday, US forces joined Israel in targeting three critical Iranian nuclear sites, including the Fordo underground uranium enrichment facility, using bunker-buster bombs. The move followed over a week of Israeli bombardments on Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure.

đź’Ą Blasts in Doha, Missile Barrage Confirmed

  • Residents of Doha and Lusail reported hearing multiple explosions and spotting missiles flying overhead. According to Qatar’s foreign ministry, air defence systems intercepted the Iranian missiles, preventing large-scale damage.

A US defense official confirmed the Al Udeid base was targeted by short- and medium-range ballistic missiles. While no casualties have been reported, the base was evacuated as a precaution before the attack.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed six missiles hit the US base, as reported by Iranian state media.

🇮🇶 Attack Also Targeted Iraq?

IRNA initially reported that missiles were also launched at US military bases in Iraq, though Iran’s official statement made no reference to Iraq. Iraqi military sources said no such attack had occurred “so far”.

🌍 International Reactions and Airspace Closures

The attack has triggered global concern. French President Emmanuel Macron warned that “the spiral of chaos must end,” calling for restraint from all sides.

Qatar condemned the strike, with spokesman Majed Al-Ansari saying the country “reserves the right to respond directly.” Saudi Arabia strongly condemned Iran’s actions, offering support to Qatar.

As tensions rose, Qatar closed its airspace, while Bahrain and Kuwait suspended air traffic. Foreign embassies in Doha, including the US mission, urged citizens to stay indoors.

🇮🇱 Israel-Iran Conflict Intensifies

  • At the same time, Israel ramped up its strikes on Tehran, targeting sites including Evin Prison, Basij paramilitary command centres, and Revolutionary Guard installations. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz described them as the “most powerful strikes yet.”
  • Iran retaliated by launching fresh missile attacks on Israel, with the Israeli military reporting damage near critical infrastructure in the country’s south.
  • Iran’s health ministry reported over 400 deaths from Israeli airstrikes, while 24 Israeli casualties have been linked to Iranian counterattacks.

âš  Global Economic Concerns & Hormuz Threat

The international community, including China, has called for restraint, warning that further escalation could harm global oil markets. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipping route, could become a flashpoint.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged China to help prevent Iran from blocking the strait, through which one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes.

🏛 Trump Hints at Regime Change in Iran

Former President Donald Trump, commenting via Truth Social, floated the idea of regime change in Iran, questioning whether the current leadership can “Make Iran Great Again.”

While US military officials maintain the goal is not to topple Iran’s government, Trump’s rhetoric signals deeper tensions ahead of upcoming elections.

🧪 IAEA & Nuclear Safety Concerns

IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi, during an emergency UN Security Council meeting, condemned the attacks on nuclear facilities. He emphasized that “armed attacks on nuclear sites should never take place”, warning of the catastrophic risks involved.

Iran insists it is not seeking nuclear weapons, and there’s currently no proof it has breached that stance, despite enriching uranium to 60% purity, a step close to weapons-grade.
