Nigerian rapper and actor Falz has opened up about the inspiration behind his newly released album, The Feast.

In an interview on Naija FM, Falz explained that the project centers on the theme of community, urging Africans to move away from the prevailing “every man for himself” mindset.

“The message I’m pushing across is community,” Falz said. “I feel like we need a sense of community because the mentality that we have in this country and Africa is the ‘every man for himself’ one, and it’s not good.”

According to him, this self-centered approach hinders the continent’s growth and progress, as both leaders and ordinary citizens often prioritise personal interests over collective well-being.

Falz criticised African leaders for focusing only on themselves and their families, often neglecting the masses. He believes that real progress can only happen when people support one another and think about the greater good.

“We constantly complain about how the government isn’t good. Why?
We need to think about the collective, every person, and we need to be there for each other,” he added. “The only way we can progress and reach our full potential as a continent is if we move together.”

While The Feast is less direct in its messaging compared to his earlier works, Falz encourages listeners to take time to reflect deeply on the album’s themes.

“It’s not as intense and direct as some of my other ones,” he said. “With this one, you need to sit and listen.”
