As the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) kicks off on April 24, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken proactive steps to ensure a safe and orderly examination process across Anambra State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Head of Media and Tactical Operations, Edwin Okadigbo, revealed that the NSCDC has deployed officers to all 33 accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in the state.
Ensuring a Secure, Hitch-Free Examination
The deployment comes under the directive of Anambra State Commandant, Olatunde Maku, who emphasized the importance of safeguarding the integrity of the examination and ensuring candidates can write their exams without interference.
“The personnel will provide security for critical infrastructure, prevent intrusion of unauthorized persons, and uphold the integrity of the examination process across the state,” the statement read.
During a security briefing at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Awka, Maku instructed area commanders, divisional officers, and composite commanders to ensure their teams arrive at CBT centres before 6am daily.
Roles and Responsibilities of Deployed Officers
NSCDC officers are tasked with:
- Screening candidates for prohibited items.
- Maintaining peace and order during examination hours.
- Preventing unauthorized access to exam premises.
- Promptly responding to any security threats or disturbances.
Maku also warned all operatives to maintain professional conduct throughout the UTME period and strictly follow JAMB guidelines.

Zero Tolerance for Exam Malpractice and Loitering
The commandant stressed that unauthorized persons loitering around CBT centres will be swiftly dealt with, while candidates were advised to avoid bringing prohibited materials into the centres.
“Anyone found wanting will be arrested and prosecuted,” Maku stated, reaffirming NSCDC’s commitment to maintaining order and transparency during the UTME.
