Juanita Broaddrick, a US author and political commentator, has publicly discovered that all accounts impersonating her online are based in Nigeria.
The revelation came just two days after X (formerly Twitter) launched a new country-location feature, designed to increase transparency and reduce impersonation.
Broaddrick shared her discovery on her X account, writing:
“All my impersonators are in Nigeria.”

Until the introduction of the location tool, she had limited insight into the origins of the fake accounts. The new feature, which automatically tags user profiles with their country, revealed that the impostors were operating from Nigeria instead of the United States, where she resides.
The feature aims to curb misinformation, bot activity, and identity theft, but it has also sparked discussions about user privacy, potential profiling, and the possibility of targeted harassment.
