COLUMBUS, OHIO, USA —
Nigerian-born geoscientist and data innovation expert, Mathew Ogieva, has once again made the country proud by serving as a Grand Award Judge at the prestigious 75th Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in Columbus, Ohio.
The ISEF, which ran from May 10 to May 17, 2025, is recognized globally as the largest annual STEM competition for pre-college students, drawing nearly 1,700 young scientists from over 60 countries.
- Ogieva, in a phone chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), described the fair as “the world’s most prestigious platform for emerging scientists and innovators.”
“In the Earth and Environmental Sciences category, I evaluated over 70 groundbreaking projects — a truly humbling and inspiring experience,” he said.
A Legacy of Global Mentorship and Scientific Excellence
Beyond ISEF, Ogieva’s contributions to science education span across the U.S. and beyond. He has previously served as a judge at:
- California Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF 2025) – California Lutheran University
- Terra NYC STEM Fair (March 2025) – New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering
- State Science Day & STEP Fair (Ohio, April 2025) – Under the Ohio Academy of Science
- Technovation Girls Global Competition (2025) – Promoting tech solutions by girls in over 60 countries
- Virginia Junior Academy of Science (VJAS, May 2025) – Supporting youth science excellence in Virginia
