Former Skye Bank Chairman, Tunde Ayeni, has firmly rejected what he described as covert attempts by lawyer Adaobi Alagwu to negotiate an out-of-court settlement in their high-profile paternity case.
Ayeni, in a statement, confirmed that Alagwu reached out through informal channels to explore a private resolution. He said the move was surprising, especially considering the significant public scrutiny and the serious reputational damage the matter has inflicted on him and his family.
He added that Alagwu’s sudden interest in settling the dispute privately may be linked to “personal reasons, including her reported upcoming marriage,” but stressed that such motives have no bearing on his quest for justice.
According to Ayeni, his priority is restoring his heavily dented reputation.
- “My primary concern is the restoration of my battered image, which this controversy has severely affected,” he said.
Ayeni insisted that any private settlement would trivialize the gravity of the allegations and undermine the harm done to his name and that of his loved ones.
- “Accepting a private settlement would weaken the seriousness of the accusations and the damage they have caused my family and me,” he stated.
He warned friends and associates against acting as middlemen on behalf of Alagwu, describing any attempt at mediation as an insult. He maintained that interactions with Alagwu, her mother, or her family should remain strictly within the boundaries of the ongoing court case.
Ayeni reaffirmed that the matter is still before a competent court, expressing his readiness to testify openly on November 25, 2025, and February 17, 2026.
He also criticised Alagwu for allegedly avoiding previous sessions at the customary court, urging her to appear and defend herself when proceedings resume.
Ayeni emphasised that he has acted transparently throughout the dispute and dismissed claims that he is being influenced to pursue litigation.

- “I am a man of my own conviction, and I trust the justice system to uphold the truth,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the legal process will clear his name and bring a final end to what he described as a deeply unfortunate situation.
Meanwhile, Ayeni’s family recently confirmed that the long-running paternity controversy involving Adaobi Alagwu and her daughter, Omarosa, has been resolved. According to them, the evidence presented has fully cleared him of any paternal ties to the child, putting the matter to rest.
