Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has broken his silence after his highly anticipated transfer to Serie A giants AC Milan fell through at the final stage.
The Bayer Leverkusen forward was expected to join the Rossoneri on a loan deal and even travelled to Milan for his medical tests. However, reports suggest that the club became uncomfortable with some of the results, leading them to cancel the agreement.
Following the collapse of the move, Boniface has since completed a loan switch to Bundesliga rivals Werder Bremen.
Addressing the failed transfer for the first time on Wednesday, Boniface explained that the decision was entirely AC Milan’s call.

- “The Milan deal not going through, that’s not on me. They decided not to go through with it,” the striker told reporters.
- “I have a strong mentality. If the deal was meant to happen, it’s meant to happen. If it wasn’t meant to happen, I move on to the next thing.”
Boniface, who has been one of Nigeria’s most promising strikers in Europe, will now look to revive his form at Werder Bremen while continuing to prove his worth at both club and international level.
