A devastating bomb explosion has claimed the lives of nine passengers traveling along the Maiduguri-Damboa road in Borno State on Saturday afternoon.

Sources confirmed the incident occurred around noon, with local drivers reporting a gridlock in the area as people gathered to offer their sympathy while security agencies conducted an evacuation of the victims.

A motorist, Kabir Ahmed, who passed the scene later, shared details with Naija Blog Daily:
“I didn’t encounter the explosion directly, but I saw people gathered at the location. We were delayed briefly as security agents cleared the area. The vehicle involved was so badly damaged that it was clear this was an explosion, not a crash.”

Reports suggest that the vehicle stepped on an explosive device placed not far from the roadside, leading to the instant death of all nine passengers onboard.

When contacted, ASP Nahum Daso, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, said he was still gathering information about the attack. He assured the public that a full update would be provided once the necessary details were confirmed.
