Tragedy in Abuja: Many Feared Dead in Another Fatal Accident on Karu Bridge.

Abuja was thrown into mourning on Friday, April 18, 2025, as another fatal accident occurred on the notorious Karu Bridge, inward Karu Site, claiming several lives and leaving many injured.

According to a Naija Blog Daily reporter who witnessed the horrifying incident, the accident was caused by a cement-laden truck that lost its brakes while descending Kugbo Hill, crashing into multiple vehicles with devastating force.

Eyewitnesses said the truck, after ramming into the cars and their occupants, attempted to flee the scene but was swiftly intercepted at Karu Roundabout by a group of vigilant commercial motorcyclists (okada riders).

This heartbreaking tragedy comes less than a month after a similar deadly crash on the same Karu Bridge, where a Dangote CNG-powered trailer lost control and killed several commuters, raising concerns over the safety of the route and the mechanical conditions of heavy-duty vehicles plying it.

Residents and road users are calling on the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and FCT authorities to urgently address the recurring dangers on the Kugbo-Karu axis and implement strict vehicle inspection measures for trucks and trailers.

As of the time of this report, emergency services are on the ground, and authorities have yet to confirm the official number of casualties or injuries.
