Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has finally opened up about her long-standing rift with fellow Nigerian singer Seyi Shay, making it clear that she has never tried to sabotage another woman’s success in the music industry.
Speaking on the Off Air podcast with Gbemi O and Toolz, Tiwa addressed the long-drawn feud, revealing that it originated from a diss track and false rumours claiming she had blocked opportunities for other female artistes.

The “Somebody’s Son” crooner firmly denied the allegations, insisting that she has always been a strong advocate for women supporting women in the entertainment industry.
- “If you do something to me, I’ll let you know, but I won’t do it online. Like the whole shade thing — I’m not going to pretend we’re cool in a salon when you’ve already done a diss track about me,” she stated.
Tiwa admitted that the rumours about her “blocking other artistes’ bags” — including Seyi Shay and Victoria Kimani — deeply hurt her, as they were completely untrue.
- “That was painful because I didn’t even know where it came from. Maybe I need to have that conversation with Shay someday. I heard they thought I blocked their bag — how? If anyone told you I did that, mention the person so I can address it. I would never do that; I’m very pro-women,” she said.
The award-winning singer further revealed that she actually lost a major endorsement deal to Seyi Shay at a point in her career, proving that she never stood in anyone’s way.
- “When I was pregnant with Jamil, I was dropped from the Pepsi ‘Longer Throat’ campaign because I couldn’t snap back in time. Shay was chosen instead — she was the brand ambassador, not me. I wasn’t angry about it. I just focused on getting my body back,” Tiwa explained.

The feud between the two stars reached its peak in 2021, when a viral video captured a heated confrontation between Tiwa and Seyi Shay inside a salon — a moment that dominated Nigerian social media for weeks.
Their strained relationship reportedly began in 2017, after Seyi Shay allegedly threw shade at Tiwa Savage during her verse in the viral “Fvck You Challenge” by Kizz Daniel, sparking years of rivalry between the two Afrobeats powerhouses.
Tiwa’s latest comments, however, suggest a possible opening for reconciliation, as she hinted that a private conversation with Seyi Shay might finally bring closure to their long-running feud.
