President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s strong commitment to fighting insecurity in Nigeria by reclaiming ungoverned territories from terrorists, kidnappers, and bandits, especially forested areas often used as hideouts by criminal elements.

Speaking during a state dinner with elders and leaders of Katsina State at the Government House on Friday night, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government will deploy advanced surveillance technology and strategic military efforts to tackle insecurity head-on.

According to a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said, “Security is a national concern. To attract serious investment, we must first secure our nation. Terrorism and banditry scare away investors. We will invest in technology and reclaim our forests.”

Tinubu emphasized that the fight against terrorism and kidnapping will be done in collaboration with state and local governments to ensure lasting peace and safety across Nigeria.

In addition to the security plan, the President hinted at economic development for Katsina State. He said the Federal Government is considering the upgrade of the state’s airport to include a cargo terminal, passenger terminal, and emergency response facilities—an initiative expected to generate over 2,700 direct jobs with a projected investment of N54 billion.

Governor Dikko Radda highlighted the state’s efforts in intelligence gathering and community security through a locally established outfit. Former Governor Aminu Bello Masari praised Tinubu’s bold leadership, saying, “Real leadership shines during tough times. You dare to face Nigeria’s challenges head-on.”

President Tinubu also assured support for victims of terrorism, promising rehabilitation programs to help affected communities rebuild and recover.
