Tinubu to Military: Crush All Threats to Nigeria’s Unity Without Hesitation.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a firm directive to the Nigerian Armed Forces, urging them to decisively crush all threats to Nigeria’s unity and territorial integrity, including terrorists, insurgents, bandits, and separatist agitators.

Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the grand finale of the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) held at Murtala Square in Kaduna, the President pledged his administration’s full support for the military.

  • “To the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, I say this with absolute clarity: the time to rise is now. You have my full authorization and the trust of the Nigerian people to confront and defeat those who seek to undermine our nation,” Tinubu declared.

Insecurity: An Existential Threat to the Nation

The President described terrorism, banditry, insurgency, and separatism as non-discriminatory evils that destroy lives, places of worship, and communities across all ethnic and religious lines.

  • “These evils destroy churches and mosques alike, orphan children without asking their tribe or faith,” he said. “But under this administration, the welfare and strength of our armed forces remain paramount.”
  • He assured the military of modern equipment, enhanced intelligence capabilities, and improved welfare to support their operations across the country.

Tribute to Fallen Heroes and Military Families

President Tinubu paid glowing tributes to fallen soldiers and wounded personnel, acknowledging their sacrifice as a cornerstone of national security.

“Some now lie in silence beneath the soil of a grateful nation, others carry the wounds of oath as living reminders of sacrifices made in our name. Their blood will not be shed in vain,” he said.

He also praised the resilience of military families, including the efforts of NAOWA and NASWA, for their support on the home front.

“We have no other country but Nigeria. We must not mortgage our future to division, indifference, or delay,” he warned. “Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria and long live our Armed Forces.”

Army Chief: Nigerian Army Committed to National Unity

In his address, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, emphasized the Army’s historical commitment to Nigeria’s unity since 1863. He said this year’s theme, “Developing the Soldier First Concept: Imperative for the Nigerian Army Transformation Drive,” underlines the priority placed on troop welfare and professionalism.

“The Army, in collaboration with the Navy, Air Force, and other agencies, is determined to neutralize all threats and safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty,” Oluyede assured.
