Tinubu Orders Full Security Clampdown on Kwara Forests After Rising Kidnappings.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed a total security cordon across major forest areas in Kwara State following a new wave of kidnappings and terrorist activities troubling local communities.

The directive was confirmed on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, in a statement released on X.

According to Dare, the President has ordered the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to intensify and expand 24-hour air surveillance over deep forest zones where terrorists and bandits are believed to be hiding.

He stated:

  • “President Tinubu has ordered a full security lockdown on forests in Kwara State following recent kidnappings and terrorist activities. The Air Force has been instructed to widen its surveillance across the innermost parts of the forests and work directly with ground troops for real-time response.”

Dare also noted that the same directive covers the Kebbi–Niger State axis, where several kidnap victims are expected to be rescued. He urged residents to provide timely intelligence on strange movements to assist security agencies.

The order follows a disturbing spike in attacks, including the abduction and later rescue of 38 churchgoers in Eruku, and the kidnapping of at least 10 residents on Monday evening in Isapa, a community under the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Reports from NAIJABLOGDAILY indicate that the attack in Isapa occurred around 6 p.m. when 20 to 30 heavily armed bandits invaded the quiet agrarian town with a large herd of cattle, shooting sporadically as residents ran for safety.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the attackers moved from street to street, firing into houses and abducting multiple residents, including a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several children.

The Isapa incident marks the third major attack in Ekiti LGA in less than a month.
Three weeks ago, 18 residents were kidnapped in Eruku but were later rescued.
Last week, 38 worshippers were abducted during a church thanksgiving service in the same town before being released.
