Tinubu: Nigeria Would Have Gone Bankrupt Without Urgent Economic Reforms.

President Bola Tinubu has defended his administration’s bold economic reforms, stating that they were necessary to prevent Nigeria from financial collapse and to secure a stable future for the next generation.

Speaking at the State House in Abuja while receiving a delegation of former National Assembly colleagues from the aborted Third Republic, Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria had been spending beyond its means for decades, using resources meant for future generations while subsidizing fuel across the West African subregion.

Highlighting the economic and social challenges his government inherited, Tinubu expressed gratitude for Nigerians’ support and assured that the tough decisions taken are now yielding positive results.

“We faced serious economic headwinds when I assumed office. Without decisive action, Nigeria would have been bankrupt. Today, we have laid a strong foundation—the exchange rate is stabilizing, and food prices are reducing, especially during Ramadan. There is light at the end of the tunnel,” Tinubu stated.
