Afrobeats icon Davido has shared his thoughts on the ongoing rivalry between Nigeria’s “Big 3” — himself, Wizkid, and Burna Boy — saying the Afrobeats culture has grown far beyond the trio.
In a trending interview with The Breakfast Club, the “Unavailable” hitmaker explained that while he no longer maintains a personal relationship with the other two artists, he believes the current conversation should focus more on collaboration and unity to move the culture forward.
“I don’t have a personal relationship with them. I did at some point in time. But I feel like the culture is just so big, and the conversation is bigger than the Big 3 right now — and that’s just the honest truth,” Davido said.

Davido also spotlighted the emergence of new-generation Afrobeats stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, and others who are making waves globally.
“There is Rema, Ayra Starr, there are so many artistes for us to just make this thing about us. I feel like right now the three of us understand that it is bigger than us and whatever it takes for the culture to grow, whichever way, we’re all for it,” he added.

When asked about the possibility of a collaboration among the Big 3, Davido didn’t dismiss it but acknowledged the behind-the-scenes tensions that often complicate such efforts.
“It is not impossible, but I feel like people around us wouldn’t want that to happen. Some people make money off us not being cool,” he revealed, hinting at industry politics.
Davido’s comments have sparked fresh conversations among fans and industry insiders about the need for unity over competition in the ever-expanding Afrobeats movement.
