Nigerian music sensation Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone, becoming the first female African artist to sell over 10 million units in the United States.

This historic feat was powered by her global hit “Wait For U”, a collaboration with American rapper Future and Canadian superstar Drake, which recently crossed the 10 million sales mark, according to chart-monitoring platform Chart Data. The smash hit is now eligible for a U.S. RIAA Diamond certification, placing Tems among the few African artists to reach such heights. She follows in the footsteps of Wizkid, who achieved similar success with Drake’s “One Dance.”
