Nigerian actress and entrepreneur Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has finally revealed why she chose to marry Afrobeats star Mr Eazi and why she decided to drop her famous family surname.
In a candid interview with the BBC, Temi described her husband, whose real name is Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, as her “best friend and life partner.” She explained that saying “Yes” to him was an easy decision because she couldn’t imagine building her future with anyone else.

- “First and foremost, he is my best friend. That’s my person. I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else. He is the one I want to celebrate with, solve problems with, and walk through life’s ups and downs with,” she said.
On why she chose to adopt her husband’s surname instead of holding on to the Otedola name, Temi said it was a deeply personal choice. She emphasized that while she respects women who choose differently, becoming Temiloluwa Ajibade felt natural for her.
“I’m now a married woman, and the obvious thing for me was to take my husband’s name. But it’s my decision, and I respect that every woman has the right to choose,” she explained.
Her decision sparked debates online, with many arguing that she abandoned a powerful surname. However, Temi made it clear that she values authenticity and privacy above public opinions, noting that keeping her relationship private has allowed her to control her narrative.

Temi also touched on her father’s recently released memoir, praising his resilience and entrepreneurial journey. She admitted that his decision not to involve his children directly in his businesses initially disappointed her, but it turned out to be a blessing.
- “It encouraged us to carve our own paths,” she said, adding that her privileged upbringing is something she will never deny. “It’s important for people born into privilege to acknowledge the advantage they’ve had.”
