Reality TV star and entrepreneur Tacha Akide has opened up on why she decided to host her Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for the most makeovers done in 24 hours in Nigeria rather than in the United Kingdom.
The event, which forms part of her Tacha Beauty Festival, aims to showcase Nigeria’s rich creative potential and promote the nation’s growing beauty industry on the global stage.

Speaking in an interview with Egungun, Tacha revealed that the initial plan was to host the event in London, with sponsorship from NYX Cosmetics, but she later changed her mind to ensure Nigeria takes the spotlight.
“The plan was London. We already had a brand, NYX, ready to sponsor us,” she explained. “But London wasn’t going to give me the vibe I wanted. My people are here in Nigeria, and it always makes sense to carry your country along. I’m putting the Nigerian beauty industry on a global map.”

The reality star, who has been planning the project for two years, began her 24-hour GWR makeover challenge on Saturday night, targeting 150 makeovers.
By Sunday morning, Tacha had already achieved 115 makeovers in just 12 hours, breaking the previous world record of 113 makeovers in 24 hours.

She dedicated the attempt to her late mother, describing her as her greatest source of inspiration and motivation to push boundaries.
Despite facing minor setbacks, including power disruptions, Tacha remained focused, completing each makeover within minutes while keeping her team and audience energized.
The event has been hailed as a celebration of beauty, resilience, and Nigerian creativity, reinforcing Tacha’s image as one of the country’s most determined and innovative influencers.
