Supreme Court Ruling: PDP Group Backs Ude-Okoye, Calls for Wike’s Expulsion.

A prominent group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Conference of Professionals (CP-PDP), has thrown its weight behind Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary.

In a statement made available to Naija Blog Daily, the group, led by its Protem National Coordinator, Barr. Obinna Nwachukwu reaffirmed its support for Ude-Okoye following a thorough review of the recent Supreme Court judgment and internal party affairs.

Supreme Court Verdict Strengthens PDP’s Leadership

The CP-PDP welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision, which upheld the supremacy of political parties in managing their internal structures, including leadership selection, membership control, and candidate nomination. The group emphasized that this ruling reinforces democratic principles, ensuring courts have no jurisdiction over internal party decisions.

According to the statement:

“The judgment has strengthened Nigeria’s democracy by reaffirming the autonomy of political parties to determine their structures and operations in line with their Constitution and Guidelines.”

Backing Ude-Okoye as PDP National Secretary

In line with the ruling, the CP-PDP fully supports the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) in recognizing Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh-Okoye as the party’s legitimate National Secretary. The group urged him to stabilize the PDP, foster discipline, reconciliation, and unity, and strengthen the party nationwide.

Calls for Wike’s Expulsion from PDP

Minister Wike

The CP-PDP further called on the PDP leadership to take decisive action by expelling the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from the party.

Condemning APC’s ‘Unconstitutional’ Actions

The group also strongly criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led National Assembly, describing its approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s suspension of a democratically elected governor and legislature as a constitutional violation and a betrayal of public trust.

They demanded the immediate resignation of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, urging Nigerians to speak out against political interference and constitutional breaches.
