The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has hailed the Super Falcons’ victory at the 2024/2025 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as a “historic moment” and a powerful testament to the strength and resilience of Nigerian women.
Nigeria’s national women’s football team lifted its 10th WAFCON title on Saturday evening after a hard-fought win over host nation Morocco in Rabat. The win further solidifies the Super Falcons’ status as the most successful women’s football team in Africa.

In a statement released by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jonathan Eze, the Minister described the team’s triumph as “more than just a victory on the pitch.”

- “The Super Falcons have once again proven that when Nigerian women lead, they inspire a nation and shine brightly on the global stage.”
Sulaiman-Ibrahim commended the Falcons for their resilience, teamwork, and ability to maintain composure under pressure. She called their performance a “source of national pride and a beacon of hope for girls across the country.”
The Minister also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for their unwavering support of the team, saying their commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda has been instrumental in uplifting Nigerian sports.
