Croatian football legend Luka Modrić has officially joined AC Milan, where he will wear the number 14 jersey for the upcoming Serie A season.

The former Real Madrid midfielder arrived in Italy on Monday to complete his medical tests and sign a one-year contract with an option to extend for a second year.

End of an Era at Real Madrid

Modrić, 38, leaves Real Madrid as a free agent after an illustrious 13-year spell with the Spanish giants. His final appearance came during the Club World Cup, where Real Madrid were eliminated in the semi-finals by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner ends his time in Madrid with a trophy-laden career, including multiple Champions League and La Liga titles.

A Dream Move Fulfilled

This transfer is extra special for Modrić, who grew up supporting Milan. His childhood idol, Zvonimir Boban, also played for the Rossoneri in the 1990s, making the move a sentimental homecoming for the Croatian maestro.
