In a chilling revelation that has stunned Mexico and the global community, authorities have uncovered nearly 400 human corpses inside a building in Ciudad Juárez, a border city near El Paso, Texas.
According to Mail Online, security operatives found 383 full human bodies and six partial remains last Thursday, June 29, 2025, in what was initially believed to be a private residence. Investigations later revealed it was being used as a secret crematorium.
🏚 Secret Crematorium Exposed
The disturbing discovery was made after a tip-off led authorities to the property. An aerial view of the premises shows the crematorium where the decomposing, embalmed bodies were allegedly stored for three to four years, without burial or cremation.
The site was run by Jose Luis Arellano Cuaron and one of his employees, both of whom have now been arrested and charged with improper disposal of human remains. Further charges may follow if evidence of homicide emerges.
🕯 Families Given Fake Ashes
Authorities say the dead were sourced from at least six different funeral homes in Juárez. In many shocking cases, families were given ashes, falsely believing their loved ones had been properly cremated.
- “They constantly received bodies for cremation and misrepresented hundreds of times to funeral companies,”
- — Chihuahua Attorney General, Cesar Jáuregui
The Governor of Chihuahua State described the operators as “irresponsible and unscrupulous,” accusing them of exploiting official licenses and betraying grieving families.
❗ Fear Grips Families of Missing Persons
Ciudad Juárez, long plagued by cartel violence, kidnappings, and human trafficking, has seen thousands of disappearances over the years, especially among migrants hoping to cross into the U.S.
- “The mothers told us, ‘My daughter is not there.’ But of course, all families were worried… wondering who is there,”
- — Yadira Cortez, Ciudad Juárez Women’s Roundtable Network

📢 What Families Should Do
The state government has now opened a process for families who suspect their relatives may be among the uncovered bodies. Authorities are urging anyone affected to provide:
- Identification documents
- Clothing descriptions
- Funeral home details
This “House of Horror” case has not only exposed serious flaws in funeral service regulations but has also brought to light the trauma and tragedy facing many families in northern Mexico.
