The Rivers State Judiciary has officially disassociated itself from a widely circulated false online report claiming that Governor Siminalayi Fubara secured a court victory against President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over the imposition of an emergency rule in Rivers State.
In a statement released by Chief Registrar David Ihua-Maduenyi, the High Court of Rivers State dismissed the report, clarifying that Justice Boma Diepiri, allegedly named in the publication, is not involved in any such case and currently serves on the Rivers State High Court, not the Federal High Court.

According to the statement, the controversial report falsely claimed that Justice Diepiri ruled the appointment of a sole administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, to oversee the state was illegal, null, and void following Governor Fubara’s suspension.
The Chief Registrar emphasized the inaccuracy of the claim, pointing out that Justice Diepiri is on Easter vacation as of Monday, April 14, 2025, and has not presided over any case involving the Federal Government, emergency rule, or Governor Fubara.

“The report is not only false but reflects the crass ignorance of the writer, confusing the Federal High Court with the State High Court—two distinct judicial bodies,” Ihua-Maduenyi stated.
The Judiciary further affirmed that no Rivers State High Court judge had issued any judgment or ruling relating to the imposition or legality of emergency rule in Rivers State.
Condemning the spread of fake news and misleading judicial claims, Ihua-Maduenyi warned bloggers and online media outlets against sacrificing professionalism for clicks and financial gain. He urged the public to verify court-related news from official sources before dissemination.
This clarification comes amid heightened political tension in Rivers State and widespread misinformation online.
