The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has assured that the ongoing reconstruction of the Rivers State Assembly Complex will be completed on schedule. During an inspection visit on Saturday, he urged the contractor, Monier Construction Company (MCC) Limited, to expedite work and ensure timely delivery as outlined in the contract agreement.
The Assembly Complex, located along Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, is being developed into a modern legislative facility, featuring 34 en-suite offices, a two-story building with an elevator, a gallery, meeting rooms, and a conference hall. Ibas emphasized that restoring full legislative activities is a crucial part of his mandate, adding that a functional legislature is vital for effective governance in Rivers State.

“One of the missing pillars in the governance structure is the legislature. For them to function effectively, they need a place to work from. I expect the contractor to adhere to the project timeline so that within six months, the facility will be ready,” Ibas stated.
He further noted that the state government has fulfilled its financial obligations, placing responsibility on the contractor to meet the agreed deadlines. The retired vice admiral reiterated his commitment to maintaining law and order in Rivers State while ensuring the government structure operates smoothly.
