Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that the resemblance between his late son, Ifeanyi, and his newborn son is so striking that it feels like “he came back.”
The award-winning singer shared this emotional revelation during a recent interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, where he opened up about the grief of losing his first son, how he found healing, and the journey of starting over with his wife, Chioma.

Recall that Davido and Chioma tragically lost their son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, in a drowning incident at their Banana Island residence on November 1, 2022. The heartbreaking loss led to a period of silence and mourning from the couple, during which Davido later confirmed they had secretly gotten married.
In a beautiful twist of fate, the couple welcomed a set of twins—a boy and a girl—in October 2023, nearly a year after Ifeanyi’s passing. The family would later go on to have a grand wedding celebration in June 2024.
Reflecting on the journey, Davido said:
“That type of loss made you just be like, ‘I’m out’. I am just going to chill, take care of my wife and take care of the family and get my head right. To come back from that and… to be blessed with twins out the gate; a boy and a girl.”
He added:
“And, the boy looks just like my son (Ifeanyi) that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him. We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back’ type stuff.”
The ‘Timeless’ crooner also spoke about how the tragic experience shaped his perspective on life and gave him a new sense of purpose. According to him, his healing process, marriage, and successful 2023 album have all strengthened his belief in divine timing.
“It remoulded me. Now I’m inspiring people that have been through tough times. God is real.”
In the interview, Davido also touched on his collaborations with American R&B singer Chris Brown, stating they have recorded about 20 songs together.

“We could put out two albums right now. It is going to happen. I am happy for Chris. He is back in his bag. He is celebrating his 20-year anniversary. I told him I was meant to go on this tour.”
Additionally, the singer disclosed his entry into the film industry, revealing that he is now an executive producer on both a movie and a series, working alongside director Dammy Twitch. He also confirmed that a documentary about his life is currently in the works.
