According to an official statement posted on his social media pages, the award-winning singer and actor died following a seizure that was followed by pneumonia.
In the announcement shared by his wife on his official Facebook page, she expressed deep sorrow over his death.
- “It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” she wrote.
She went on to appreciate everyone who walked with the reggae legend throughout his lifetime.
“I am thankful for his family, friends, fellow artists and coworkers who have shared his journey with him.
“To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career. He truly appreciated every fan for their love.”

She also extended gratitude to the medical team that attended to the singer during his final moments.
“I also wanted to thank Dr. Couceyro and the whole medical staff, as they have been extremely supportive and helpful during this difficult process. Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will follow your wishes.”
The family has requested privacy as they mourn, adding that further details will be shared at a later time.
