Spanish giants Real Madrid have completed the signing of Álvaro Carreras from Benfica in a deal reportedly worth €50 million, as part of the club’s ongoing summer squad rebuild.
The 22-year-old Spanish left-back, who was once part of Real Madrid’s youth academy before moving to Manchester United in 2020, has signed a six-year contract that will keep him at the Bernabéu until June 30, 2031.

“Real Madrid and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Álvaro Carreras, who will be under contract with our club for the next six seasons,” the club confirmed in an official statement released on Monday.

Carreras played 62 matches for Benfica, scoring five goals, including his appearances during an initial loan spell. He was permanently signed by Benfica in 2024 for just €6 million from Manchester United before now securing a major return to Madrid.
