The Nigeria Police Force has announced that the nationwide enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit (TGP) will officially commence on Thursday, October 2, 2025. The directive was issued by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, in line with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004, a law designed to enhance national security and reduce criminal activities.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Halima, motorists across the country—especially in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State—must now provide valid and verifiable permits for vehicles with tinted glasses. The statement stressed that the earlier grace period given for motorists to obtain or renew permits has expired.
The police warned that driving with tinted glass without an approved permit is now a criminal offence, and defaulters risk vehicle impoundment, fines, and possible prosecution. Enforcement teams will carry out routine checks nationwide, with strict compliance expected.

To avoid sanctions, motorists are advised to apply for or revalidate their TGP through the official police portal at www.possap.gov.ng. The Force further urged the public to support this security measure, emphasizing that compliance is both a legal responsibility and a patriotic duty.
