Police Neutralise Two Robbers, Arrest Two Others After Midnight Attack in Kaduna Estate.

In a dramatic midnight operation, officers of the Kaduna State Police Command have neutralised two armed robbers and arrested two others following a violent robbery at Gashash Estate, Barnawa, in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to reports, a gang of eight heavily armed criminals stormed the estate around 3:10 a.m., looting valuables such as mobile phones, laptops, PlayStation consoles, jewellery, and wristwatches.

Swift Police and Military Response

The invasion prompted an immediate response from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Barnawa Division, who swiftly mobilised his patrol team. Reinforcements also came from the Kakuri and Sabon Tasha Divisions, along with troops from the 312 Artillery Regiment, Kalapanzi.

In a joint statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed that the suspects were intercepted along Makera Main Road in Kakuri, where they engaged security operatives in a fierce gun battle.

  • “A fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the death of two robbers, while two others were overpowered and arrested,” DSP Hassan said.

Weapons and Stolen Items Recovered

The Police recovered:

  • A locally made pistol
  • Live ammunition
  • Assorted dangerous weapons
  • Seven stolen mobile phones
  • Three wristwatches
  • Two laptops
  • Two PlayStation gaming consoles
  • Assorted jewellery

These items are believed to have been stolen from the victims of Gashash Estate.

Injured Officer and Ongoing Manhunt

DSP Hassan also revealed that one police officer sustained gunshot wounds during the gun duel and is currently receiving treatment at the Police Clinic in Kaduna. Meanwhile, a manhunt is ongoing for the remaining gang members who fled the scene.

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, praised the quick coordination between the Police, Military, and Department of State Services (DSS) for their professionalism and bravery.
