Plateau Killings: Nigerian Government Vows Justice and Peace Restoration.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has assured residents of Plateau State that the spate of deadly attacks ravaging communities in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas will soon come to an end.

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, gave this assurance on Saturday during a visit to Bassa, where he sympathized with victims and families affected by the recent massacres.

NAIJABLOGDAILY recalls that over 100 lives were lost and properties destroyed in coordinated attacks over the last three weeks, leaving communities in deep mourning.

Speaking during the visit, Badaru said:

“We are here on behalf of the Federal Government to identify with you and share in your grief. Security operatives will bring these senseless killings to an end. We are committed to securing your lives and properties.”

He further stated that President Bola Tinubu has given a direct order to track and bring to justice those responsible for the bloodshed.

“We will get to the root of this matter. Those who committed this evil act will be apprehended. We are working closely with the Plateau State Government to implement a security structure that prevents such attacks from happening again.”

Badaru also emphasized the need for collaboration with local community stakeholders to break the cycle of violence in the region.

In response, the paramount ruler of Irigwe Chiefdom, Brra Ngwe Ronku Aku, appreciated the government’s intervention but lamented the continued loss of lives and livelihoods.

“We appeal to the government and security agencies to intensify efforts in ending this cycle of violence. We are ready to cooperate for the sake of peace,” the monarch said.

The royal father also urged the government to rebuild destroyed homes and restore livelihoods of displaced victims.
