Peter Obi Visits Plateau Attack Victims, Donates ₦7.5 Million.

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has paid a heartfelt visit to victims of the recent deadly attacks in Bokkos LGA, Plateau State, offering condolences and support to survivors. He also donated ₦7.5 million to help with education and the essential needs of displaced persons.

“These Killings Are Senseless and Unacceptable” – Peter Obi

Sharing his experience via his official X handle, Obi described the violence as “senseless killings” and decried the level of destruction in the communities.

“What has happened in these communities is saddening and utterly unacceptable. Nigerians should not be forced to live in fear when we’re not at war,” he said.

Obi met with displaced families, children, and victims of the attacks in Bokkos and showed solidarity with Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the people of Plateau State.

“Every Nigerian life is precious. No one should be killed or displaced in a country that is not officially at war,” he added.

Obi Donates ₦7.5 Million to Displaced Children

The former Anambra State governor revealed that his Obidient Movement had earlier provided a borehole for clean water to the affected community. His latest donation of ₦7.5 million is meant to support displaced children, education, and other urgent needs.

“We continued the support with ₦7.5m to help provide facilities for displaced children, continuous education, and care for the affected.”

Fresh Violence Claims More Lives in Plateau

Obi’s visit comes just as another fresh attack struck the Zike community in Bassa LGA, leaving at least 40 dead. According to local sources, the attackers stormed the community in the early hours of Monday and opened fire on fleeing residents.

This attack follows an earlier massacre in Bokkos LGA, where over 50 people were killed, and adds to a long list of deadly incidents in Plateau.

“This Is Genocide” – Governor Mutfwang

Speaking on Channels TV, Governor Mutfwang condemned the repeated killings, describing them as acts of genocide.

“There’s no other explanation but genocide, sponsored by terrorists. Security agencies must help us uncover who is behind this.”

CAN and Nigerians Demand Action

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) also condemned the attacks, calling them barbaric and a grave affront to human dignity. CAN President Daniel Okoh warned that the continuous violence threatens Nigeria’s unity and called for urgent government intervention.

“This level of violence is a serious threat to national cohesion. We urge the government to act swiftly to restore peace.”
