The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced that he is stepping back from public activities to prioritize his health. Obi disclosed this in a statement posted on his verified X handle on Saturday, titled “Supporting Healthcare, Building Hope.”
The former Anambra State governor explained that his physician advised him to take a short rest following recent health concerns. “Earlier in Enugu, I was not feeling well. I visited the hospital where the doctor gave me some medication and advised me to take a day or two days rest,” Obi revealed.
Despite his health challenges, Obi still visited Good Hope Specialist Hospital, Isulo, in Orumba South LGA, which is being acquired by the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria. He made an initial contribution of ₦10 million towards the hospital’s revitalisation, praising the Diocese’s vision to transform it into a comprehensive health complex with training institutions for nurses, midwives, and health technologists.
