Peter Obi Doesn’t Need PDP or Atiku to Defeat Tinubu in 2027 – NLC Declares.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has stated that Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, does not need any alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), nor support from Atiku Abubakar or Nasir El-Rufai, to emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, the Deputy President of the NLC Political Commission, Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, described Obi as a credible, widely accepted, and sellable candidate with a proven nationwide appeal.

“Peter Obi doesn’t need any coalition to win the 2027 presidential election. He already proved his popularity in the 2023 elections by defeating Tinubu in Lagos, his stronghold,” Ndubuaku said.

PDP in Crisis, Labour Party More Stable – NLC

Dismissing recent speculations about Obi possibly rejoining the PDP, Ndubuaku described the party as a “crisis-ridden and near-empty platform,” plagued by unresolved internal divisions.

“No serious candidate will consider the PDP as a viable option. The Labour Party’s internal issues have been resolved by the Supreme Court. PDP’s problems, on the other hand, are far from over.”

He emphasized that Obi’s popularity cuts across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, and he remains the most viable option to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, provided the election is free and fair.

Obidients Reaffirm Loyalty to Obi

Ndubuaku’s remarks come after the Obidients Movement reiterated its full support for Obi, regardless of the party platform he decides to run on in 2027.

Obi Doesn’t Need 8 Years to Transform Nigeria – NLC

Responding to concerns about zoning and North-South power rotation, Ndubuaku stated:

“The only fear is that Obi could do a full eight years, which some Northern interests see as a disruption of power rotation. But we know Obi isn’t desperate for power. He doesn’t even need eight years to reposition Nigeria.”
