Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has refuted claims that he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing the speculation as false and misleading.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the former Anambra State governor categorically stated that he has no affiliation with APC and remains committed to principled, issue-based politics rather than toxic political narratives.
Obi’s Statement: No Plans to Join APC
In response to social media reports linking him to an APC gathering, Obi made it clear:
- “Let me make it unequivocally clear: I do not engage in toxic politics, blackmail, or any form of political manipulation. My name should not be associated with such narratives.”
- He emphasized that his political philosophy is rooted in integrity, fairness, and issue-driven leadership, urging political parties to prioritize competence, capacity, and compassion in selecting candidates.

On Valentine Ozigbo: Obi acknowledged that Ozigbo, a former PDP governorship candidate who recently joined LP, should be assessed based on his leadership qualities rather than partisan sentiments.
