Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has firmly denied reports suggesting he is set to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Ibrahim Umar of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) in Abuja, Obi distanced himself from a circulating message that falsely claimed he had defected to the PDP.
According to the media office, Obi remains fully committed to the ongoing political coalition, with many speculating he is aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other reform-focused platforms.
The statement emphasized that the former Anambra State governor has consistently made his position clear and does not require others to speak on his behalf.

- “Peter Obi has been unequivocal in his position in the ongoing coalition and didn’t need anyone to put words into his mouth. He has remained focused on his mission but would not accept anybody attributing a statement to him just to satisfy their devious agenda,” the statement noted.
The media team urged Nigerians to ignore any claims or statements not issued directly from Obi’s official media office or verified social media handles.
