Dr. Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, made headlines after rejecting a ₦30 million cash donation offered by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, during a church crusade in the state.
The donation was announced during the Kebbi Healing and Deliverance Crusade, where Kebbi State Commissioner for Social Duties, Zayyanu Umar Aliero, presented the governor’s cash gift on stage.
Governor’s N30 Million Offer Rejected on Stage
Aliero, speaking on behalf of Governor Idris, stated:
“Our Governor, His Excellency Dr Nasir Idris… has approved the donation of the sum of ₦30 million to the organising committee. As always, this is in cash.”
However, in a surprising moment, Pastor Enenche declined the offer, instructing that the funds be redirected to charitable causes such as orphans or community support initiatives.
- “No, it will not be received. If there is anything like orphanage, at your discretion, please apply this amount of money to it,” Enenche declared from the pulpit.
Why Pastor Enenche Rejected the Government’s Money
Explaining the decision, Dr. Enenche emphasized the importance of keeping public funds separate from religious activities.
- “We believe government money should be used for government projects. Church money should be used for church things. That’s what we do,” he said.
- He highlighted that the Glory Dome—the massive Dunamis headquarters in Abuja—was built without any government funding, from land acquisition to completion.
Maintaining Integrity in the Church
Pastor Enenche added that the body of Christ must rely on divine provision and preserve its independence and integrity.
“This is so we can retain our dignity as a church… and be able to say what we need to say when we need to say it.”
He also recommended that such donations be routed through recognized Christian bodies like the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board or the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Kebbi Government Responds Respectfully
Commissioner Aliero acknowledged and respected Pastor Enenche’s stance, stating:
“They don’t accept it because whatever he is doing, he is doing it for the sake of God. We appreciate him and thank him for what he is doing in our state.”
