The Ogun State House of Assembly has officially approved the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for 2026–2028, a key financial blueprint submitted by Governor Dapo Abiodun to guide the state’s fiscal planning for the coming years.
The approval was given on Tuesday during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide in Abeokuta. Musefiu Lamidi, Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, presented the report and moved for its adoption.
The MTEF details allocations for personnel, overhead, and capital expenditures across all state ministries, departments, and agencies, ensuring a structured approach to budgeting from 2026 through 2028. The motion for approval was moved by Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye, and received full support from all assembly members.
Following the adoption, the Speaker directed the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service to forward the resolution to Governor Abiodun, allowing the executive arm to begin preparations for the 2026 budget and subsequent fiscal years.

In other developments, the Assembly announced Dickson Awolaja as the new Deputy Minority Leader, replacing Lukmon Atobatele, while Waliu Owode was appointed as the Deputy Minority Whip.
This approval reinforces Ogun State’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, strategic budgeting, and governance transparency as it prepares for the next three-year financial cycle.
