The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has resumed the payment of arrears to corps members, marking the first disbursement since June 3, 2025, after a two-month break.
This payment is linked to the new ₦77,000 monthly allowance recently approved by the Federal Government for serving corps members.

Recall that on April 5, 2025, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, assured that both current and recently passed-out corps members would benefit from the revised allowance once funds were made available.
- “Once funds are released to us to offset the arrears, we will pay them. Even our corps members who passed out recently will benefit. We have their bank details,” Nafiu stated during the Batch A 2025 Pre-Mobilisation Workshop in Abuja.
He further emphasized the government’s commitment, saying Nigerians should not worry because the government is both responsible and responsive to the needs of its citizens.
The arrears cover the period between July 2024 and March 2025, following months of delays that had caused frustration among corps members.

Confirming the latest payment, a former corps member told Naija Blog Daily:
- “After waiting for two months, I didn’t expect to see another payment alert. But honestly, it’s not just about the money; it’s about feeling like our efforts actually count.”
The resumption of arrears payment has been widely welcomed as a sign of the government’s commitment to youth welfare, economic support, and service recognition.
