Activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has alleged that officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos State absconded after summoning Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, for questioning over her viral criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Background:
Raye, a corps member, recently went viral on TikTok (#talktoraye) for condemning Nigeria’s worsening economic crisis and referring to President Tinubu as a “terrible leader.”
She later claimed that she was being threatened by NYSC officials over her remarks.
She was summoned to appear before her Local Government Inspector (LGI) in Eti-Osa for questioning on Monday, March 18.
What Happened?
Raye arrived at the LGI office with Sowore and a team of legal practitioners – Festus Ogun, Adeyinka Oyesomi, and Ojienoh Justice.
However, according to Sowore, NYSC officials failed to show up and went into hiding to avoid confrontation
