Nollywood star Toyin Abraham has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity following the Kwara church attack and the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State.

The actress reacted emotionally on Instagram after news broke that three worshippers were killed and several others abducted during a church programme in Eruku, Ekiti LGA of Kwara State on Tuesday evening.

This horrific attack came just hours after 25 female students of Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, were kidnapped in Danko-Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State on Monday, November 17, 2025.

Toyin Abraham: “How do we move past the heaviness?”

In her heartfelt post, Abraham questioned how Nigerians are expected to cope amid repeated tragedies.

She wrote:

  • “How do we move past the heaviness in our hearts after watching the heartbreaking video of the attack in Kwara? How does any mother close her eyes at night knowing that 25 young girls have been stolen… girls who should be safe, laughing, learning, dreaming?”

She described the pain felt by mothers across the country, saying:

  • “As mothers, we carry a kind of fear that sits deep in our bones. When we hear of such violence, it is not just news to us, it is a wound.”

“Terrorism is tearing our communities apart.”

Abraham lamented the devastating impact of terrorism and religious extremism, warning that these violent acts are dismantling the very foundation of society.

  • “Fanatics and terrorists are not just attacking villages—they are attacking the idea of safety, childhood, and peace.”

She posed difficult questions about the nation’s security challenges:

“How do we confront a world where innocent souls are kidnapped and killed in the name of hatred? How do we protect our children when cruelty moves without fear or consequence?”

Growing Public Outrage

The renewed wave of bandit attacks has sparked widespread condemnation. Some celebrities and public figures have even called on President Bola Tinubu to resign over the deteriorating security situation.

The insecurity crisis has also triggered major online reactions, with some accounts—like that of Nigerian cleric Dachomo—reportedly deleted amid heated commentary about a “Christian genocide.”

As anxiety spreads across the nation, Toyin Abraham has joined the growing number of Nigerians demanding stronger security measures and protection for vulnerable communities.
