The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has temporarily suspended train operations along the Warri-Itakpe rail line, citing a technical engine failure.
Naija Blog Daily reports that the NRC announced the move in an official statement shared on Thursday via the X (formerly Twitter) account of its Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa.
According to the statement, the suspension will last 72 hours to allow for a comprehensive technical audit and full restoration of safe services.

“In view of the situation, the NRC has suspended operations on the Warri-Itakpe route for 72 hours,” the statement read.
“This pause will allow our technical team to conduct a full audit, resolve all identified issues, and restore safe and reliable service,” said Henrietta Eregare, Public Relations Officer of the NRC.

The engine failure reportedly occurred on Tuesday, April 9, 2025, forcing the corporation to take urgent safety measures to prevent further incidents and ensure the reliability of the route.
