Nigeria, Africa Can Work If We End Corruption and Rascality in Governance – Peter Obi.

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has once again emphasized that the key to Nigeria and Africa’s progress lies in eliminating corruption and restoring integrity to governance.

Posting on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, Obi reflected on his recent engagement with African youth at the African Together Conference held at the University of Cambridge, UK. The event, themed “The Making of Africa’s Future Presidents,” brought together passionate young leaders from across the continent.

“We Must Tackle Corruption and Rascality”

  • Obi did not mince words, stating that corruption and reckless leadership have held Nigeria and Africa back for too long.
  • “Nigeria, and indeed Africa, can work for all if we dismantle corruption and rascality in governance,” he said.
  • He shared insights from his political journey and encouraged young people to be actively involved in reshaping their societies through integrity-driven leadership.

Investing in Human Capital is Key

Obi stressed the importance of investing in key sectors like education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation, citing examples from countries like China, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

“With competent, committed, and compassionate leadership, Nigeria can become a beacon of hope, and Africa will rise to become a global economic powerhouse,” he declared.

He added that African countries must prioritize human development to unlock their full potential.

Message to the Youth

Impressed by the energy and vision of the participants, Obi said he remains committed to empowering young Africans to lead transformational change.

Obi concluded by thanking the African Society at the University of Cambridge for hosting the event and urged more youth to step up in the journey toward a better Nigeria and Africa.
