Mohbad: Auxiliary Nurse Reveals Shocking Details on How Nigerian Singer Died After Tetanus Injection.

An auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, has testified before the coroner’s inquest investigating the mysterious death of Nigerian singer, Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba).

During the court hearing at the Ikorodu Magistrate Court, Lagos, on Saturday, Ogedengbe detailed how she administered a tetanus injection to the late artist after he sustained an injury. Her testimony sheds light on the events leading to Mohbad’s tragic passing on September 12, 2023.

How Mohbad’s Treatment Started

Ogedengbe stated that she was contacted by Ayobami Sodiq, aka Spending, on September 11, 2023, to treat a friend who had injured his hand. Due to heavy Lagos traffic, she was unable to attend to the patient that day but arrived the next day at Orchid Estate, Lekki, where she discovered the injured person was Mohbad.

She recounted that Mohbad’s right hand was swollen, prompting her to administer a tetanus injection via the intramuscular route on his upper arm. Since Mohbad confirmed that he had an ulcer, she avoided giving him a diclofenac injection and instead administered 4ml of paracetamol and 1ml of water intravenously to manage his pain. She diluted ceftriaxone (a strong antibiotic) in 10ml of water and injected it slowly into his vein.

Mohbad’s Sudden Reaction and Struggle for Medical Help

While receiving the ceftriaxone injection, Mohbad suddenly said he felt like vomiting. The nurse stopped the injection, allowing him to go to the toilet, where he vomited. When he returned, Ogedengbe noticed he had developed goosebumps all over his body. Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, reassured her that this was a normal reaction and began pouring water on him in the bathroom.

As Mohbad’s condition worsened, his friend, DJ Ayobami, and the nurse rushed to find a nearby pharmacy for emergency medication. Unfortunately, the first pharmacy had no hydrocortisone injection or saline infusion, forcing them to search for another pharmacy. By the time they secured the necessary drugs, Mohbad had already started convulsing at home.

Mohbad Rushed to Hospital Amid Heavy Traffic

Upon returning, they found that Mohbad had already been moved outside his house, and an urgent attempt was made to transport him to a hospital. Due to severe traffic in Lekki, Mohbad was transferred onto a motorbike to reach the hospital faster.

At the first hospital, medical personnel initially hesitated to attend to him. Eventually, they attempted CPR, but it was too late—Mohbad was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA).

Confusion Over Mohbad’s Death and Transfer to Second Hospital

In disbelief, Mohbad’s associate Darosha insisted on taking his body to another hospital at Osapa London, Lekki. However, upon arrival, doctors at the second hospital confirmed there was no pulse, and he was officially declared dead.

The nurse stated that at about 9 PM, she and Mohbad’s lawyer went to the Orchid Police Station in Lekki to report the incident and obtain a death certificate. The police asked if the family wanted an investigation into the case, but at the time, they were unsure.

Court Adjourns Inquest to March 21, 2025

Following her testimony, Ogedengbe was cross-examined by lawyers representing Mohbad’s family, his wife, and the Lagos State Government.

With the next hearing scheduled for March 21, 2025, Nigerians are eager for more revelations about the true cause of Mohbad’s death.
