Paris, France –
French football star Kylian Mbappe has filed a lawsuit against his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), accusing them of attempted extortion and moral harassment during the contract standoff in 2023.
According to Le Parisien, a judicial investigation has been officially launched following the complaint filed by Mbappe on May 16, 2025. The case revolves around PSG’s controversial decision to ban the France captain from training with the first team during the tense contract negotiations last summer.
The 26-year-old, who now plays for Real Madrid, alleged that PSG tried to pressure him into signing a new deal by isolating him from the squad—a move he believes was both unethical and coercive.
Magistrates Assigned as Legal Proceedings Begin
The investigation formally opened on Tuesday, with two magistrates assigned to examine the case. The complaint directly targets the Parisian club’s actions, which Mbappe’s legal team claims were calculated to force compliance.
