Kylian Mbappe delivered another standout performance as Real Madrid battled to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena on Saturday, maintaining their perfect start to the LaLiga season.
The French striker opened the scoring after capitalizing on a defensive lapse, firing in his fourth league goal of the campaign. Moments later, Madrid were reduced to 10 men when defender Dean Huijsen was shown a straight red card for hauling down Mikel Oyarzabal.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Mbappe turned provider, setting up Arda Güler with a clever cutback to double Madrid’s advantage. Sociedad responded after the break, with Oyarzabal converting from the penalty spot following a Dani Carvajal handball.

Speaking after the match, Mbappe expressed joy over the victory and promised total commitment to the club.
- “I want to give my all for this shirt. I scored today, but the team makes it possible for me to shine. The assist was very important because it sealed the win,” he said.
- On Huijsen’s dismissal, he added:
- “The red card changed the game a little, but we stayed strong and came back with three points.”
The result leaves Madrid top of the table with 12 points from four games, five points clear of rivals Barcelona, who face Valencia on Sunday. For manager Xabi Alonso, the victory was extra special as it came against his boyhood club, Real Sociedad, where he played and began his coaching career.
