Makinde Renames Polytechnic Ibadan After Late Former Governor Victor Olunloyo.

Ibadan, Oyo State –

Governor Seyi Makinde has officially renamed The Polytechnic Ibadan after the late former governor, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, in recognition of his contributions to Oyo State and the institution.

The announcement was made on Thursday during the state burial ceremony held in honour of the former governor, who passed away a few weeks ago.

Governor Makinde declared that the institution will henceforth be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan, in tribute to the late statesman.

Honoring a Pioneer Governor

Dr. Olunloyo served as the Governor of old Oyo State from October to December 1983, and remains historically significant as the first indigene of Ibadan to occupy the position.

In addition to his brief but notable political career, he once served as Rector of the Polytechnic Ibadan, strengthening his legacy within the institution and Oyo State’s educational system.
