The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has officially released its nomination and administrative fees for aspirants contesting in the July 12 local government elections.
Naija Blog Daily reports that the election guidelines were jointly signed by APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and Secretary, Dr Adeola Jokomba, on Tuesday.
Chairmanship Nomination Fees
- Male aspirants: N5 million (nomination) + N500,000 (administrative) = N5.5 million
- Female aspirants: N2.5 million (nomination) + N500,000 (administrative) = N3 million
- Youths (under 40 years): 50% discount on nomination fees, but must pay N500,000 administrative fee
- Persons with Disabilities (PWDs): Free nomination, pay N250,000 administrative fee
Councillorship Nomination Fees
- Male aspirants: N1 million (nomination) + N100,000 (administrative) = N1.1 million
- Female aspirants: N250,000 (nomination) + N100,000 (administrative) = N350,000
- Youths (under 40): 50% discount on nomination fee; N100,000 administrative fee
- PWDs: Free nomination form, pay N50,000 administrative fee
“There shall be no separate fee for the Vice Chairman position,” the party noted, adding that all payments must be made via bank draft to APC Lagos State.
Endorsement and Eligibility Requirements
Chairmanship aspirants must obtain sponsorship from five registered APC members who are voters in their ward, LG, or LCDA.
Councillorship aspirants must be endorsed by 20 registered APC members from their ward.
- Basic eligibility includes:
- Nigerian citizenship
- Minimum qualification: school certificate or its equivalent (higher qualifications are an advantage)
- Minimum age: 30 years for Chairmanship, 25 years for Councillorship
- Evidence of APC membership and active support
Proof of loyalty and compliance with the party’s Code of Conduct
Additional Guidelines
Aspirants currently holding party positions must resign 30 days before the primaries or the election date.
