Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Kankarofi, confirmed that tactical teams—including the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism, Quick Response, and intelligence units—have been deployed to strategic locations across the state.

He further stated:

  • “Additional security assets have also been deployed to carry out operations and meet any unforeseen situations in critical areas. We urge the public to remain calm and verify information through official sources before sharing, noting that false claims can cause unnecessary panic. Security is a shared responsibility.”

The police urged residents to report any suspicious activities and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and safety in Kogi State.

The false reports began circulating on social media early Monday, leading to multiple inquiries from journalists seeking confirmation of the claims.
